Lander Sand Hills (upper-right corner of image)

The Lander Sand Hills are a range of dusty yellow-brown hills located about five miles north of Lander, Wyoming. Located just within the boundaries of the Wind River Indian Reservation, they are off-limits to those who are not members of the Shoshone or Apache tribes, something which many Wyoming Catholic College students, desirous of climbing them, learn the hard way, when they have to turn around short of the hills after hours of hiking due to "No Trespassing" signs. The Sand Hills are also rumored to contain secret ancient gold mines, dating from before the settlement of the West.
